Galizano and la playuca (the little beach)

A delightful beach for those with small children. Galizano has a fresh water stream running right through it into the sea. When the tide rises it creates a wonderful shallow pool that is perfect for small ones to play in. When the tide is low small pools are created which are equally as fun and safe for children to enjoy and splash in. Just around the first group of rocks la playuca can be found. Its a very small secluded beach, hence its name and it is well protected from the wind. Galizano beach also has a bar where all number of refreshments can be bought. Parking on weekends can be difficult so its best to get there early. +

Langre boasts two beaches, one large and one small and secluded.

+For many people Langre is the most beautiful beach in the whole of Cantabria. At just 3 kilometeres from La Casona the beaches are situated in the village of Langre. Both beaches are surrounded by incredible cliffs and access is provided by stairs. At Langre beach you have the option of parking in the organized car park and pay a small fee to a local who owns it or alternatively you can park along the road and walk a bit further to the Beach. Its advisable if your spending the day to take plenty to eat and drink as there is no beach bar. Its important to bear in mind that when the tide is high access to the stairs might be impeded. However at low tide there are fantastic rock pools perfect for those who are travelling with children or who like to explore. Also to be noted, the second half of the beach is a nudist area. +

One of the most expansive beaches in all Cantabria if we join it with Somo, it is kilometers long, one of the reasons why Loredos famous derby is held each year the second Sunday of every August. The Derby consists of various horse races ranging from amateur to professional and is a wonderful sight to witness. Loredo beach has many different types of surroundings depending on how you want to spend your time, whether you want to sunbathe or are with children, there are places to escape the wind or to be more secluded or walk or do sports such as surfing or diving. Loredos views are beautiful too, on on hand you can see the city of Santander in the distance and on the other you have wide open sea. +

Arnillas beach

Arnillas is in Galizano village. It is a small beach with difficult access but is a lovely place to be with a partner as its exclusiveness inspires romance. Surrounded by high cliffs and overlooking an open sea. Its only drawbacks are its accessibility and the fact that its not lifeguarded.

Ajo beach

+

A beach with small dimensions and very busy on the weekends. Take care with the rips at low tide. However it does have easy access due to the car park right next to the beach front. It is life guarded and has a beach bar in case you need refreshments.

Berria beach

+

Berria is 2.200 m and surrounded by dunes. Its a great beach for walking and playing beach ball. When there is a North West wind its almost impossible to sunbathe or picnic. Be mindful of the currents.

Somo and El puntal (the point)

+

A wide and open sandy beach stretching over 3 kilometres which finishes in El puntal. You can reach the end of this long spit by walking or alternatively you can catch a small boat from Santander to reach El puntal without the effort. In the summer Somo is a busy beach especially on the weekends. It attracts many beach goers not only due to its impressive size but because it has easy access to many different beach front bars and shops. Somo is a marvellous beach for walking due to its length and impressive low tides. Although its important to be aware of currents when swimming. It is fully lifeguarded as are all the beaches mentioned.

La Casuca - The Little House

+

La casuca is an apartment within the grounds of the hotel. It was once the staff quarters, and it is ideal for a family of 4 or group of friends. It is 45m sq in size and has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other has two single beds. Each room has its own bathroom. The apartment also has an American style fully functional kitchen with fridge, washing machine/dryer and microwave. A living room with television- DVD a dining space and a small balcony. The apartment also has WIFI and central heating.
