Geographically to the south of the bay of Santander, the nearby towns of Solares and Liérganes are famous for their mineral and thermal spa waters, whilst the smaller villages offer fine and unspoiled examples of the local style of architecture. The area is famous too for the grand houses built by “Los Indianos” who left Spain for the Americas to return and build impressive homes in Cantabria. On hand is the Nature Reserve of Cabárceno and within easy reach are the prehistoric caves of Altamira and the awe-inspiring Picos de Europa. This is an area full of places of interest and things to see and do!
